Dardanos Lobby Console

Dardanos is a long console drawn for hotel lobbies. A grey-beige stone top sits on a solid oak base made of two thick slab legs, each split into twin blades with a slot between them. A low open oak shelf near the floor runs through the slots and ties the two legs together. Right under the top there is a slim drawer with a recessed finger pull. It takes its name from Dardanos, the ancient city on the Dardanelles near Çanakkale. We make it in our factory in Istanbul. The stone top is impregnated, so a vase, a lamp or a key tray lifts off without a mark. The slim drawer keeps small things such as pens, cards and brochures out of sight; there is no handle, and a recess along the edge takes the finger. The low shelf suits books, vases or boxes rather than bags, and because it sits near the floor it does not get in the way of sweeping. The thick slab legs keep the console steady when it stands against a wall. It belongs in an elevator lobby, on an entrance wall or behind a lobby seating group. Oak tone, stone and length are chosen at order. We set the length against the wall dimensions.
