Starda Antique Brass Leg Table
Dining Tables

Afrodisias is a dining table with a racetrack marble top, its ends cut as full semicircles, resting on two fluted wood pedestals. It takes its name from Aphrodisias, the ancient city known for its marble sculpture. The top in the photos was selected for the client we built this table for: a grey ground, charcoal clouding and fine white veins running through it. Your table will not have the same marble, and it cannot. Every slab of natural stone is a fingerprint; that vein forms only once. So before cutting we send you a photo of the slab for approval, and you see the veining of your table before it is made. The pedestals are D-shaped: their flat faces turn toward the middle of the table, their rounded faces follow the curve of the top. Vertical fluting wraps each pedestal from the floor to the underside of the top and catches the light flute by flute. With no central leg, knees stay free along the long sides. Height 75 cm. Length and width are made to your dining room and the number of guests; marble type and pedestal tone are chosen together from our samples. A single piece takes about six weeks to produce.

Our Design Studio takes a home, villa or hotel from floor plan to handover as one team: site survey, concept, photorealistic 3D visualisation, material selection, production in our own factory and installation on site. You see this piece in your room, in the finish you chose, before anything is made.

Carrara, Calacatta, Emperador, travertine and onyx: which marble suits which piece, how it compares with quartz and how often the surface needs sealing. Practical notes from our factory.
